Help and FAQs for the Aliqa app · Last updated 16 September 2026

Need help right now?
  • Email support@aliqa.app - we typically reply within 2 working days.
  • Cancel or change your subscription in iOS Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions, or on Android in Google Play → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions.
  • Delete your account from inside the app: Profile → Delete account.

1. Getting in touch

The fastest way to reach us is by email at support@aliqa.app. Aliqa is a small team - we read every message and reply within 2 working days (UK office hours, Monday–Friday).

To help us help you faster, please include:

  • The email address on your Aliqa account.
  • Your iPhone or Android model and OS version (iOS: Settings → General → About; Android: Settings → About phone).
  • The Aliqa app version (Profile → About).
  • A short description of what you tried, what you expected, and what happened.
  • If relevant, a screenshot or a short screen recording.

For privacy and data-protection requests (access, correction, deletion, portability) please write instead to privacy@aliqa.app - see the Privacy Policy for the full list of rights and the response timelines.

2. Subscriptions, free trial and billing

Aliqa is sold on the App Store and Google Play as an auto-renewable subscription with a 7-day free trial for first-time subscribers. Apple is the merchant of record for App Store purchases and Google is the merchant of record for Play purchases, so payment, renewal and refund handling all happen through your Apple Account or Google account rather than directly with us.

2.1 Start, change or cancel your subscription

  • Cancel on iPhone: open Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions, tap Aliqa, then Cancel Subscription. You keep access until the end of the period you've already paid for.
  • Cancel on Android: open the Google Play Store → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions, tap Aliqa, then Cancel subscription.
  • Switch between monthly and annual: same place on the store you subscribed through.
  • Free trial: the 7-day trial is available once per Apple ID (App Store) or Google account (Play) per subscription group. Cancelling at least 24 hours before the trial ends prevents the store from charging you. Deleting and reinstalling the app does not reset the trial.
  • Restore purchases: if you've reinstalled the app or signed in on a new device, open Aliqa and tap Restore Purchases on the paywall. Use the same Apple ID or Google account that originally subscribed.

2.2 Refunds

App Store refunds: open reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in with the Apple ID that bought the subscription, find the Aliqa charge, and follow Apple's prompts. Google Play refunds: open the Play Store purchase history or Google Play's refund help and follow Google's prompts. If the store asks us to confirm anything, write to support@aliqa.app and we'll respond on your behalf the same working day.

2.3 Pricing

Live prices in your local currency are shown on the paywall inside the app, pulled directly from StoreKit (iOS) or Google Play Billing (Android). We have no separate Aliqa account billing system and do not store your card details.

3. Your account

3.1 Sign in

Aliqa uses a single sign-in surface at login.aliqa.app. The app opens it automatically when you launch a fresh install or when your session expires.

3.2 Forgotten password

From the sign-in screen tap Forgot password, enter your account email, and follow the link in the message we send. Reset links expire after 1 hour. If the email doesn't arrive within a few minutes, check your spam folder, then write to support@aliqa.app.

3.3 Change the email on your account

This isn't yet self-service. Email support@aliqa.app from the email currently on the account, tell us the new address, and we'll move you over in one working day.

3.4 Export your data

Open Profile → Export. The app downloads a ZIP of your meals and scores straight away (JSON, a spreadsheet CSV, and a README). Meal photos are not inside that ZIP. To save them, open Profile → Meal Photos: share a single photo for the original, or Save all photos for the 1200px copies. File names match the photo field in the ZIP so you can join the two. The download link is valid for about an hour.

3.5 Delete your account

Open Profile → Delete account, re-enter your password, and confirm. Your meals, images, day scores and personal data are queued for deletion immediately; the disaster-recovery window closes after 30 days, after which the data is unrecoverable. See Privacy Policy §7 for retention details.

Important: deleting your Aliqa account does not automatically cancel your store subscription, because billing lives with Apple or Google. Please cancel separately under Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions on iPhone, or Google Play → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions on Android.

4. Using the app

4.1 A meal photo didn't analyse

The vision pipeline occasionally fails on very dark, blurry, or close-up shots. Try retaking the photo with the whole plate framed and natural light. If the analysis still doesn't return after a minute or two:

  • Pull to refresh on the day view.
  • If the items shown are wrong, tap Edit items and adjust them - the day score recomputes automatically.

4.2 A meal or score looks wrong

Aliqa's AI is approximate - it may miscount items, miss hidden oils or sauces, or get a portion wrong. You can edit any tag, portion or item from the meal detail screen, and the day score recomputes immediately. There is no penalty for correcting the AI; in fact, it's the recommended workflow whenever a meal looks off.

4.3 Notifications and reminders

Toggle reminders under Profile → Notifications. If reminders aren't appearing, also check that notifications for Aliqa are enabled in iOS Settings → Notifications → Aliqa or Android Settings → Apps → Aliqa → Notifications.

4.4 The app is slow or crashes

Most issues clear with a normal app restart. If the problem persists, please report it (see §6 below) - including your OS and Aliqa version helps us fix it quickly.

4.5 Devices and platforms

Aliqa is available on iPhone running iOS 17 or later and on Android (the listing on Google Play states the minimum OS). There is no iPad-specific layout and no Apple Watch app.

5. Privacy and data

The full picture is in our Privacy Policy. The headline points:

  • We don't sell your data and we don't use it for advertising.
  • We don't use your meal photos or food entries to train our own AI models, and our AI sub-processor doesn't either (OpenAI API, with the standard "no training" default).
  • You can export and delete your data at any time, from inside the app.
  • Privacy questions and rights requests: privacy@aliqa.app.

6. Reporting a bug or suggesting a feature

Please email support@aliqa.app with the subject line Bug report or Feature request. Bugs are triaged within 2 working days; feature requests are read and considered for the roadmap, though we can't promise a timeline or specific outcome.

7. Status and outages

Aliqa relies on AWS and OpenAI behind the scenes. If the app shows a sustained "couldn't analyse meal" or "couldn't sign in" error, the cause is usually a transient outage at one of those providers. We don't run a public status page yet - if you're affected for more than 30 minutes, write to support@aliqa.app and we'll confirm whether the issue is on our side and share an estimate.

8. Medical, dietary and legal questions

Aliqa is an educational tool for adults. It is not a medical device and does not give medical advice. If you have a health condition, an eating disorder, or an allergy, or you are pregnant, talk to a clinician before changing how you eat. See the Medical Disclaimer. Our support team cannot answer clinical questions about your diet or health.
